A Cow to Love Farm in Louisiana does NOT milk on Saturday!

From Friday evening until Saturday evening, our cows and our boarding cows are let out with their babies. We do not milk on Saturday as per GOD's 4th commandment.

HE blessed the 7th day and made it Holy. The cows and their calves are happy. We take off their halters and turn them out in the big pasture. They romp and run and play all day. We usually watch them and listen to the birds. Then, it's time to watch the children play! It is a great day, Saturday! I am glad the LORD made it!

I have not always kept Saturday as Holy. I was raised catholic and learned to treat Sunday as my holy day, but it never seemed as wonderful as Saturday.

I have tried to make Sunday holy for the cows and give them the day to rest; but they just didn't do as well. I tried to make them rest on my schedule. It was easier for me to turn them loose on Saturday evening so that I could attend church on Sunday without being rushed. Seemed logical to me only the cows disagreed! They just weren't joyful, and milk production lagged.

Now, their milk is flowing!

Since July, when Momma Cow freshened, I have been letting all the animals rest on the Sabbath, and I am amazed! Their sheer joy in their rest day is truly awesome; and their milk is abundant! When I wean the babies, at 8 months or so, I will buy new babies so that the mommas can still have their Sabbath. I try so hard to learn GOD's will. My best source of knowledge is the Bible. I memorized the 10 commandments as a child, but always from the "story book" perspective. Now that I apply it to my life, I can see how HIS lessons are just as applicable today as throughout HIStory.

As an aside note I have been praying about children who die before their parents and I have learned this:

Each day that I grow older, I am moving closer to death. If all my earthly treasures are here on earth ( ask anyone what I treasure on earth and they say my children), how sad would I be when my day to go home comes. BUT.....

God has laid up for me treasures ( my children who have died in this time) in Heaven for Eternity. I already have friends and family who I will see in Eternity, and one day, I will go too. I will wait patiently while I enjoy children I have not known here on earth. If my children would have lived for years, imagine the memories that I would get to share with them. Instead, I will get to hear their stories of GOD and people in Heaven waiting for GOD's will to be done and for Heaven and earth to be One.

So, back  the Sabbath. I keep the 7th day Holy because GOD created it to be Holy. Jesus, my earthly model of GOD, kept the Sabbath Holy.

Only the Christian church started in Rome changed holidays Holy days. With good intentions, Roman churches covered pagan days with our Christian observances. You can take the day from the pagan, but you can't take the pagan rituals out of the day. We see it at  winter solstice Christmas and at eostere Easter.

GOD's first 4 commandments instruct us on our relationship with GOD:

I. Thou shalt have no other gods beside me.

II. Thou shalt not make to thyself an idol, nor likeness of anything, whatever things are in the heaven above, and whatever are in the earth beneath, and whatever are in the waters under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down to them, nor serve them; for I am the Lord thy God, a jealous God, recompensing the sins of the fathers upon the children, to the third and fourth generation to them that hate me, and bestowing mercy on them that love me to thousands of them, and on them that keep my commandments.

III. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord thy God will not acquit him that takes his name in vain.

IV. Remember the sabbath day to keep it holy. Six days thou shalt labour, and shalt
perform all thy work. But on the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God; on it thou shalt do no work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy servant nor thy maidservant, thine ox nor thine ass, nor any cattle of thine, nor the stranger that sojourns with thee. For in six days the Lord made the heaven and the earth, and the sea and all things in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the seventh day, and hallowed it.

The following six commandments instruct our relationships with others; and the 5th commandment is the first with a promise:

V. Honour thy father and thy mother, that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest live long on the good land, which the Lord thy God gives to thee.

VI. Thou shalt not commit adultery.

VII. Thou shalt not steal.

VIII. Thou shalt not kill.

IX. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

X. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife; thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house; nor his field, nor his servant, nor his maid, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any of his cattle, nor whatever belongs to thy neighbour.

May GOD bless you this next Sabbath, and your animals too for GOD made them and animals do GOD's will. They comfort us, feed us, and show us GOD's wonder and majesty.
